Marina di Pisa
Marina di Pisa is a small seaside resort located just 11 km from Pisa. It can be reached by car along Viale D’Annunzio, a tree-lined road that flanks the left bank of the Arno river. In addition to the promenade, which on holidays afternoons is closed to traffic and transformed into a pedestrian area, in Marina di Pisa the area at the mouth of the river called “Bocca d’Arno” is particularly renowned, a very pleasant landscape area, and loved by the Marinese and tourists.
From Bocca d’Arno it is possible to make boat trips to the Cinque Terre, Capraia Island and Elba Island. Along the coast there are various free beaches, numerous equipped bathing establishments, restaurants and various trendy clubs.
About halfway between Pisa and Marina di Pisa, at the height of the town of San Piero a Grado, it is advisable to visit the suggestive basilica of S. Piero, a building that, according to tradition, was commissioned by S. Pietro himself, landed here during a trip to Rome.
